3-Axis Servo Gimbal
While working with UBC Rocket to develop their 100km high altitude rocket for the Base 11 Space Challenge this summer, I started on a portable camera gimbal during my spare time. The project’s limited budget ($100) and lack of access to the MECH machine shop at UBC while on my co-op work term added an extra challenge, but one I’ve enjoyed. The slower pace of this project has allowed me to explore mechatronic control systems and the engineering design process while improving my electronics and programming skills.
The main components of this project are three SG-5010 servos, an MPU-6050 MEMS IMU, and an Arduino Uno.
